How To Make No Sew Pillows

no sew pillowAren’t they beautiful?

I love the colors on those pillows. They are perfect for any room in your house that you want to add a little fun and color. To bring a little spring and sun in the days.

Best of all they are easy to make. There is no need to sew them and you’ll love making them.

The tutorial for the No Sew Pillows is from Home Arts Magazine!

“Here is what you’ll need to make those beautiful 16″ square pillows:

•  16″ square pillow form

•  1 yd. of 44″-wide cotton print fabric

•  1/4 yd. of 44″-wide coordinating print fabric

•  1 yd. of coordinating double-fold tape

•  1 yd. of coordinating fabric rickrack

•  Two square cover buttons

•  Two 8 1/2″ x 11″ sheets of double-stick fusible web

•  1/2″ wide double-stick fusible web tape

•  Permanent fabric adhesive

•  Waxed button thread

•  6″ upholstery needle

Iron & board

Note:

•  Follow manufacturer’s directions for fusible products and covered buttons.
•  Allow fabric glue to dry between steps.
•  See photo for details and placement.

Directions:

Prepare fabric panels. From main fabric, cut one 17″ square for front and two 12″ x 17″ pieces for back. From coordinating print fabric, cut two 8″ squares. Cut two 8″ squares from fusible web sheets and fuse to wrong side of the fabric squares.

Assemble front panel. Remove paper backing from 8″ fabric squares. Fuse squares to right side of 17″ fabric square as shown. Cut two 17″ lengths of bias tape and fuse the open edges closed with fusible web tape. Apply fusible web tape to one side of each bias strip and remove the backing. Position bias tape strips across center of pillow, lengthwise and crosswise, covering raw edges of appliqued squares. Fuse strips in place. Note: If you have difficulty fusing overlap of bias strips, use permanent fabric adhesive to secure.

Assemble back panels. Apply fusible web tape to one long edge of each back panel; do not remove paper backing. Use paper edge as a guide to press each edge under twice. Remove paper backing and fuse folded edge in place. Overlap folded edges until combined panels measure 17″ wide. Fuse top and bottom edges of overlap together.

Fuse panels & apply rickrack. Apply fusible web tape around edges on right side of front panel. Remove paper backing. Place back panels right side down on front panel, aligning edges. Fuse panels together. Let tape cool. Turn panels right side out and press. Glue fabric rickrack around edges with permanent fabric adhesive.

Insert pillow form. Insert pillow form through overlapping back edges. Cover buttons with fabric.

Tuft pillow (optional): To tuft center, cut an 18″ length of waxed button thread and slide shank of one button onto center of thread. Insert both thread ends through eye of upholstery needle. Stitch through center of pillow and remove needle. Slide remaining button onto one thread end and knot thread ends together, pulling tightly.”
