Green Tea Benefits

There is no doubt that green tea is good for us. Some may find the taste (including me) a little strange at first, but there are ways to make it better.

I find drinking green tea with a teaspoon of honey and cold much better than just plain and hot.

Try different things, see what works for you! Maybe adding a little sugar, lemon or honey will make it taste better and still give you that dose of healthy benefits green tea has to offer.

Here are some health Benefits green tea has:

  • It is used to raise the metabolism and increase fat oxidation. Which will help with the weight loss and regulating your metabolism (always a good thing).
  • It reduces the risk of heart diseases and heart attacks by reducing the risk of thrombosis.
  • Drinking green tea inhibits the growth of certain cancer cells, reduces the level of cholesterol in blood, improves the ratio of good cholesterol to bad cholesterol.
  • It is used for treatment and prevention of cancer.
  • It reduces the risk of esophageal cancer.
  • It is used to treat multiple sclerosis.
  • It is used to stop Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases.
  • It is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis and cardiovascular diseases.
  • It is used to treat impaired immune function.
  • Some researches show that, drinking green tea regularly may help prevent tooth decay by killing the bacteria which causes the dental plaque.

Why is green tea so good for us? Green tea is rich in catechin polyphenols, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). EGCG is a powerful anti-oxidant, besides inhibiting the growth of cancer cells, it kills cancer cells without harming healthy tissue. It has also been effective in lowering LDL cholesterol levels, and inhibiting the abnormal formation of blood clots. The latter takes on added importance when you consider that thrombosis (the formation of abnormal blood clots) is the leading cause of heart attacks and stroke.

New research shows that green tea is very good for dieters. It speeds up metabolism and helps with burning more calories when drinking while keeping with regular exercise.

There is only one down side for green tea. It has been proven that green tea can also cause insomnia due to the fact that it contains caffeine. Which means if you are drinking green tea and coffee it could be a little too much caffeine for the body. However, green tea contains less caffeine than coffee, which was expected.

Tell me: Do you drink green tea? Your favorite way to drink it? What do you think of benefits of green tea?
