Choosing A Right WordPress Theme For Your Blog

For me choosing a right WordPress theme (or any other) for my blog is the same as decorating my house.

Your blog is a part of you, a part of who you are. And your design, layout, and that first page is the first impression and glimpse to who you are.

I’ve gone trough many changes on my blog when it comes to design. Layouts have changed, themes have changed and every time there was something new that made each design unique and right for the time being.

What I learned is, that even if you find that “perfect” looking theme there will always be something that you’ll need to change. Something that will need to be made your own and unique.

There is also a big difference between looking nice and easy to work with themes. I’ve had both. Some were looking beautifully, but when I would need to change something it would drive me crazy because things would mess up. On the other hand I’ve worked on themes so easy to edit that it pushed me to work on them all the time!

But when it comes down to picking a theme here are some places to start looking:

Elegant Themes- one of the first themes I had on my blog. Very pretty and easy to work with. I was able to customize it with ease even back than when my knowledge about all this was very little!

Woo Themes- loved having a Woo theme. Many choices and custom features that you can change with just a click of a mouse right from your WordPress dashboard.

The Thesis Theme for WordPress- Personally I haven’t had Thesis on my site, but have heard amazing reviews about it, and I know many bloggers using them. It has great features and it’s easy to customize again from your WordPress dashboard. Very user friendly and great for SEO.

Arthemia- theme I’m using and playing with now. It has come the time to test this theme as well and I love it so far. True my site doesn’t look much like the image above, but that is because I wanted to customize it completely. Very easy to work with.

Lifestyle- another beautiful theme. Although I’m sure you are very familiar with this one, since it’s one of the most popular themes when it comes to blogs. I had it for a while also and loved working on it.

Wpzoom Themes- I didn’t try their themes as yet, but see them at lots of blogs. From what I can tell it’s easy to work with and customize to make your own.

Theme Junkie- beautiful themes as well. Haven’t tried them myself, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t!

With so many choices there has to be the right theme for you too. I like to change themes because I have found they all have something that works at certain times for my blog.

Look around, see live demos and decide for yourself. Tell me which theme are you using, and what is your favorite to have and work on?!

I definitely need to dive into this when I get just a little extra free time. Would love to change up and have a nice theme. Plus, I love the commenting sections much better. Hopefully it won’t be too hard for me to do ;)

Those are all nice sites, but I prefer to design my own themes :D I should really start putting some of my throwaways up for public use.
